Lobby and Child Right Advocacy
ANPPCAN-Ethiopia undertakes lobby and child right advocacy efforts at local, national, regional and international levels to improve the situation for children all across Ethiopia. This strategy enables children to access information and services, get involved in decision making processes, defend and protect their rights and also speak out about issues that matter to them.
Child Protection
Child protection refer to preventing and responding to violence, exploitation and abuse against children – including online/commercial sexual exploitation, child trafficking, child labour and harmful traditional practices, such as female genital mutilation/cutting and child marriage. Child protection programs also target children who are uniquely vulnerable to these abuses, such as when living without parental care, children with special needs and in conflict with the law. Therefore, child protection is one of the key programmatic intervention areas of the organization in this strategic period.
Education and Early Childhood Development
Scale up school contribution to improve quality and access to education through building the capacities of teachers, improving systems, construction of classrooms and providing equipment with the participation of the community, contribute to early childhood development and creation of awareness in the school set upon positive child disciplining methods.
Child Rearing Practices, Sexual Reproductive Health/Family Planning and HIV/AIDS
Undertake prevention of harmful child rearing practices, rehabilitate child victims, scale up sexual reproductive health/family planning services and prevent HIV/AIDS
Social and Economic Development of Women/Gender transformation
Scale up and expand the social and economic empowerment of disadvantaged women through providing them skill trainings, organize them in to saving and credit cooperatives and other income generation activities. Access to resources and control so as to improve the position of women in the community in line with right based development approach.
Food Security
Strengthen food security and livelihood activities to help the disadvantaged children, youth and women self reliance.
Maternal and Child Health Care
Undertake maternal and child care services to contribute to SDG of reduction of child and maternal death.
Water, Sanitation and hygiene
Scale up the undertaking of water and sanitation activities and livelihood support for disadvantaged communities.
Peace building, conflict resolution and citizen engagement in electoral processes
ANPPCAN-Ethiopia will engage itself in the is a process of facilitating the establishment of durable peace and tries to prevent the recurrence of violence by addressing root causes and effects of conflict through reconciliation, institution building, and political as well as economic transformation. The organization will work on conflict prevention, conflict management, conflict resolution and transformation, and post-conflict reconciliation. It also will work in ensuring the active participation of a citizen and the organization itself in electoral processes of the country; in the political discussion, voters’ education and as observatory roles.
