African Network for the Prevention and Protection against Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN)–Ethiopia is a non-religious, non-political and non-partisan national Civil Society Organization working on Child Protection and re-registered with the Agency of Civil Society Organizations with a registration number 0385. It is a member of the Pan African Network Organization known as African Network for Prevention and Protection of Children against Abuse and Neglect which has a Regional Office in Nairobi, Kenya and Chapters in 26 African countries.

To enhance the prevention and protection of children from all forms of maltreatment, in partnership with others, thus ensuring that the rights and wellbeing of children are realized

About

ANPPCAN-Ethiopia was established in 1990 and registered in the same year with former Ministry of Internal Affairs. It was again registered with the Ministry of Justice in 1996 and with the Charities and Societies Agency and the Agency of Civil Society Organizations in 2009 and 2019 respectively. From 2009 – July 20, 2019, the organization was named Association for National Planned Program for Vulnerable Children And in Need (ANPPCAN)-Ethiopia due Proclamation 621/2009. However, following the emergence of proclamation 1113/2019, the organization regained its former name African Network for the Prevention and Protection against Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN)–Ethiopia and this is one of the reasons why ANPPCAN-Ethiopia forced to revise its Strategic Plan.

ANPPCAN-Ethiopia has a nearly 30 vears practical experiences and fantastic achievements in areas of child protection and other development programs impacting the life of vulnerable children and their families. However, ANPPCAN-Ethiopia would like to highlight major key achievements registered over the past 5 years as follow;

  • Lobby and Child Right Advocacy.
  • Child Protection.
  • Education and Early Childhood Development.
  • Child Rearing Practices, Sexual Reproductive Health/Family Planning and HIV/AIDS.
  • Social and Economic Development of Women/Gender transformation.
  • Food Security.
  • Maternal and Child Health Care.
  • Water, Sanitation and hygiene.
  • Peace building, conflict resolution and citizen engagement in electoral processes.
